Give Us A Hand is an independent moving and collections service that works closely with BartsC Thriftshop. We donate suitable resellable items directly to BartsC so they can be sold to support their work.
Resellable items and donations
- If our team deems your items resellable, we will donate suitable pieces directly to BartsC Thriftshop so they can be resold.
- BartsC Thriftshop provide free transport for people with long‑term illness to and from appointments.
Whether items can be donated depends on condition and resellability, assessed by our driver.
What we move
Furniture, empty & dry household appliances, shop/store collections, and suitable equipment or garden items. If an item could leak, spill, or contaminate other goods, it's restricted.
Upcycling‑first clear‑outs
For clear‑outs we always look for the best outcome for your items. Good, reusable pieces are prioritised for donation to BartsC Thriftshop and other partners. Acceptable dry items that can't be reused are taken to licensed recycling centres — not fly‑tipped or dumped.
We also keep pricing simple and fair: you are charged per person, per hour from when we leave our business premises to cover travel costs, rather than an opaque "per load" fee.
Important: Dry items only
No chemicals, paints, solvents, loose fuel containers, domestic waste, hazardous materials, pressurised cylinders, leaking batteries, or perishable/frozen contents. Cold appliances must be defrosted; all appliances must be empty, clean, and dry. Equipment with built‑in fuel/oil may be moved if upright, securely closed and not leaking.
