Moving & clear-out guides
A bit of preparation makes your move or clear-out faster, safer and more affordable. These guides walk through simple steps you can take before we arrive so we can load quickly, protect your belongings and keep your job running smoothly.
We move dry items only — no chemicals, no domestic waste, no hazardous materials. Appliances must be empty, clean and dry; cold units fully defrosted. Equipment with built-in fuel or oil may be moved only if upright, securely closed and not leaking.
Preparing to move house
Whether you are moving a few key pieces or most of a room, a little planning beforehand keeps everything organised on the day.
1. Decide what is staying and what is going
- Walk room‑by‑room and make a simple list.
- Decide what you want to keep and what you are happy to let go of.
- Put anything you want us to move or take away in a clearly marked area if possible.
2. Empty and prepare furniture
- Empty wardrobes, drawers and presses into boxes or bags.
- Remove loose shelves, glass panels and fragile pieces where possible.
- If a bed or wardrobe needs dismantling, keep screws and fittings together in a small labelled bag.
3. Pack and label boxes
- Use smaller boxes for heavy items like books.
- Clearly label each box with the room and a short description (for example, "Kitchen – plates & cups").
- Keep an essentials box (kettle, cups, chargers, medicines) separate so it is easy to find first.
4. Think about access and parking
- Reserve a parking space for the van as close to your door as possible.
- Clear hallways, stairs and paths so we can move items safely.
- Let us know in advance about tight staircases or low ceilings so we can plan dismantling if needed.
Preparing for a house clear-out
For clear-outs we focus on good, reusable dry items first. We are not a waste collection service, so separating acceptable items from rubbish in advance keeps everything straightforward.
1. Separate reusable items from waste
- Put reusable furniture, appliances and household items in one clearly marked area.
- Keep domestic waste bags, food waste and general rubbish in a different area for your own waste collection provider.
- Do not mix chemicals, paints, solvents or hazardous materials with items for us to move.
2. Check what we can take
- We can take dry household furniture, acceptable appliances (empty, clean & dry), and most garden or light equipment.
- We cannot take black bags of domestic waste, food waste, medical or biological waste, or anything leaking.
- Unsure about an item? Send us a quick photo on WhatsApp before booking.
3. Prepare appliances and equipment
- Defrost fridges/freezers fully and wipe them dry.
- Disconnect washing machines, dryers and dishwashers; remove any water from filters or trays.
- For lawnmowers and similar equipment, fuel and oil may stay in the built‑in tank if it is securely closed, upright and not leaking. We do not transport loose fuel containers.
4. Mark what you don't want to keep
- Clearly separate the items you want to keep from the items you want us to take away.
- Our team will then decide what can be donated, reused or recycled and what needs licensed disposal.
- Restricted items (paints, chemicals, gas bottles, etc.) must follow your local civic amenity site guidance and may need a separate trip.
